God's love for us was demonstrated when He sent Jesus Christ into the world. Before social media, text messages, and emails, if you wanted to tell that special someone how you felt about them, you might have sent a hand-written love letter.

In a way, that’s what happened at Christmas, where we celebrate the birth of God’s Son, Jesus Christ. When God sent Christ to be born into the world, it was like Him sending a love letter to mankind. John 3:16 tells us, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” Christ is God’s love letter because it is through Christ that God demonstrates His love for us by forgiving our sins and offering us eternal life.

After a love letter has been sent, the recipient of that letter usually sends a response to let the sender know they love them also. God has sent us His love letter in Jesus. Have you responded to God’s love letter in a way that tells Him you love Him too? As you give Christmas gifts to your family and friends this year, make sure you give something to God to demonstrate your love for Him. Here are a few “gift” ideas:

  • Give Him your obedience. “If you love me, keep my commands.” – John 14:15
  • Give Him your worship. “Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe.” – Hebrews 12:28
  • Give Him yourself. “Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship.” – Romans 12:1

These are just some suggestions, but there are many more things you can give. What will you give God to express your love to Him? Let me know in the comments.
