To strengthen your faith in God, you must believe He has the power to handle your problems. This is Part 2 of my 4-part series on strengthening your faith. You can find links to the other parts of the series at the end of this post.

After believing in God and accepting Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord (Level 1), the second level of faith we must have to deal with life’s challenges is to believe that God has the power to handle our problems. Ephesians 3:20 (NKJV) says, “Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us.”

While we verbally acknowledge that God can do anything, sometimes whether we actually believe it is dependent upon what’s happening to us. For example, it may be easier for me to believe God can mend my broken arm than believe God can heal me of cancer. We must get to the point where regardless of what the issue is, we believe God has the power to address the situation.

There are several areas we can look at to strengthen our faith in God’s power:

  • Look at who God is. God is all-powerful and can do “exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think.” No matter how big our problems look to us, they are small compared to God’s power.
  • Look at what God has done in the Bible. Some Biblical examples of God’s awesome power include creating the world, parting the Red Sea, healing the sick, and raising the dead. If God performed miracles then, He can do them now!
  • Look at what God has done in our lives. God has brought us through tough situations in the past. Since God delivered us before, that should help us believe He has the power to do it again.
  • Look at what God has done for others. Our faith in God’s power can be strengthened by others’ testimony of how God took care of their problems.

Sometimes our circumstances can be very difficult, almost overwhelming. But we serve a God who is able to bring us out of any trouble we might encounter. Let us have faith in God and never, ever doubt His power.

What will you do to remind yourself that regardless of how hard your problem seems, God has the power to handle it? Tell me about it in the comments.
