prayerAs a member of a club or organization, there are benefits that go along with being a part of that group. For example, if you are a member of a travel club, you get discounted rates on hotel stays and rental cars. If you are a member of a fitness club, you get the use of their exercise equipment, free classes, and, in some cases, personalized training.

Well, from a spiritual perspective, there are some amazing benefits that we enjoy as a result of being a member of God’s family through faith in Jesus Christ. This is part 1 of my 5-part series on the privileges that come with membership in the family of God.

One benefit we have as children of God is “unlimited access to the Master.” As part of God’s family, we can approach God at any time through prayer. There aren’t many things in life that are unlimited, but when it comes to praying, there are no limits or restrictions on how often we can call on God! Jeremiah 29:12 says, “Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you.”

You may have had situations in the past where you needed to talk to someone about an important matter. However, when you called them, they were unavailable. That is not the case with God. No matter what is going on in our lives, and regardless of whether it is night or day, we can call on the Lord and He will hear us. Hebrews 4:16 declares, “Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.” Through prayer, we can approach God with assurance, knowing that He will always be there when we need Him.

Do you have a need today? Pray to God; He’s accessible and can meet your needs. Are you worried or anxious about something? Call on the Father; He’s available and wants to give you peace. Whatever the situation, pray to the Lord because He is ready, willing, and able to help you! Psalm 46:1 reminds us, “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.”

Have you ever had to call on God early in the morning or late at night? If so, let me know in the comments how the Lord heard and answered your cry.
