Jul 29, 2023 | Trusting God
This is Part 2 of my 4-part series on strengthening your faith. You can find links to the other parts of the series at the end of this post.
After believing in God and accepting Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord (Level 1), the second level of faith we must have to deal with life’s challenges is to believe that God has the power to handle our problems. Ephesians 3:20 (NKJV) says, “Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us.” (more…)

Today I want to begin a new series on a topic that is of vital importance to every believer: faith. You can find links to the other parts of the series at the end of this post.
The dictionary defines faith as “a strong belief in someone or something; complete trust or confidence.” As Christians, we are called to place our belief, trust, and confidence in God.
The goal of this 4-part series is to strengthen our faith and trust in God. There are three levels of faith that we must possess to help us deal with the inevitable challenges of life. The first level of faith is to believe in God and accept Jesus Christ as your Savior and Lord. Hebrews 11:6 says, “And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.” Romans 10:9 states, “If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” (more…)

This is the final part of my 7-part series on why Christians shouldn’t worry. You can find links to the other parts of the series at the end of this post.
The seventh reason Christians shouldn’t worry is because God is in control. Stated another way, God is sovereign. One dictionary defines sovereign as “possessing supreme power; being unlimited in extent; having complete independence and freedom to do as one desires.” Daniel 4:35 (NIV) says, “All the peoples of the earth are regarded as nothing. He [God] does as he pleases with the powers of heaven and the peoples of the earth. No one can hold back his hand or say to him: “What have you done?” (more…)

This is Part 6 of my 7-part series on why Christians shouldn’t worry. You can find links to the other parts of the series at the end of this post.
The sixth reason Christians shouldn’t worry is because God is with us. Isaiah 41:10 (NIV) says, “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” (more…)

This is Part 5 of my 7-part series on why Christians shouldn’t worry. You can find links to the other parts of the series at the end of this post.
The fifth reason Christians shouldn’t worry is because God has the power to handle our problems. In Jeremiah 32:27 (NIV), God says, “I am the Lord, the God of all mankind. Is anything too hard for me?” The answer to this question is a resounding “NO!” There are no problems God cannot solve, no situations He cannot fix, and no circumstances from which He cannot deliver us. This is Part 4 of my 7-part series on why Christians shouldn’t worry. You can find links to the other parts of the series at the end of this post.
The fourth reason Christians shouldn’t worry is because worrying shows a lack of faith in God.
One of the negative consequences of worry is fear. We sometimes worry and become fearful when we are in a situation where we don’t know what is going to happen to us or our loved ones. (more…)

This is Part 3 of my 7-part series on why Christians shouldn’t worry. You can find links to the other parts of the series at the end of this post.
The third reason Christians shouldn’t worry is because God promised to supply all our needs. Philippians 4:19 (NASB) says, “And my God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.”
One of the things that causes us to worry is when we are afraid our needs will not be met. Some examples of unmet needs that could make us worry are not having enough money to pay a bill and needing a job to support our family. (more…)

This is Part 2 of my 7-part series on why Christians shouldn’t worry. You can find links to the other parts of the series at the end of this post.
The second reason Christians shouldn’t worry is because worrying won’t make the situation better. In Matthew 6:27 (NIV), Jesus said, “Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?”
Worrying is nothing but a big waste of time and mental energy! Think about it. When was the last time worrying improved your circumstances? Has worrying ever made your problem go away or helped you feel better or gave you some relief? Probably not. (more…)

Worrying is something many people do. I know I’ve done it and perhaps you have, too. Worry means to “give way to anxiety or unease; allow one’s mind to dwell on difficulty or troubles.” In many cases, what we worry about either has not happened or is something we have no control over anyway!

Aug 14, 2021 | Commitment, Spiritual Growth
Years ago, the United Negro College Fund (UNCF) coined the phrase, “A mind is a terrible thing to waste.” Likewise, a life is a terrible thing to waste. We waste our lives when we selfishly do what we want to do and not what God created us to do. God has a purpose for each of His children and we are wasting our lives when we don’t fulfill His purpose for us.
We fulfill God’s purpose in two ways. First, we fulfill God’s purpose by obeying the commands He gives to all Christians in His Word, the Bible. This underscores the importance of regular and consistent Bible study. If we don’t read the Bible, we won’t know what God expects us to do.
The second way we fulfill God’s purpose is by doing the things He has specifically called and gifted each of us to do. This second way will be the focus of this post. Ephesians 2:10 says, “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” In addition to the commands that are applicable to all Christians, there are some things God specifically designed each individual believer to do. Following are three things we must do to fulfill God’s specific purpose for our lives.
