After we have read and meditated on God's Word, the next thing we must do is believe God's Word.I want to continue talking about putting God first. You can find links to the other parts of this series at the end of this post. In my earlier post, I said one way we can show God He is first in our lives is by making the time to read and meditate on the Bible daily.

After we have read and meditated on God’s Word, the next thing we must do is believe it. Prioritizing God above everything else includes what we believe. We must believe what God says over what our friends, society, and the Internet tell us.

There are three reasons we can believe what God tells us in the Bible:

  • God is faithful. Faithful means “being trustworthy, reliable, and dependable.” Deuteronomy 32:4 says, “He is the Rock, his works are perfect, and all his ways are just. A faithful God who does no wrong, upright and just is he.” Since God is our Rock who is trustworthy and dependable, we can believe every word He says.
  • God cannot lie. The first part of Numbers 23:19 tells us, “God is not human, that he should lie, not a human being, that he should change his mind.” Since God cannot lie, we can conclude that every word He has spoken in the Bible is true and can be believed.
  • God keeps His promises. The second part of Numbers 23:19 states, “Does he speak and then not act? Does he promise and not fulfill?” The implied answer to these two rhetorical questions is “No!” If God says He is going to do something, He will do it. If God makes a promise, He will fulfill it. Since God is a promise keeper, we know we can believe His Word.

After we read and meditate on the Word of God, and we believe it, there is one more thing we must do with the Bible if we want to show God that He is first in our lives. I’ll tell you what that is in my next post!

What scriptures have you read and believed that have helped you deal with life’s challenges better? Let me know in the comments.
